Dr. Isabelle Chrysanthou-Baustert is a Medical Physicist of the Medical Physics Department at Nicosia General Hospital. She holds a physics degree from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETHZ), an MSc in Radiation Physics, a PGCert in Healthcare Education and a PhD in Medical Physics (the Institute of Cancer Research and the Royal Marsden) from the University of London. She has over 18 years of experience in the field of medical physics ranging from clinical work in radiotherapy and diagnostic radiology, over academic work (research, teaching) and business development to regulatory work for the government. She founded and managed a high tech start-up on medical imaging for which she won the first prize at the Cyprus Entrepreneurship Competition and raised ¼ million Euros. Recently, she held the post of vice-chair at the Council of the European Union in Brussels for the regulatory work in the area of medical devices. She has focused on research on the optimisation of medical imaging techniques to improve diagnosis twice in her career: once on MRI and more recently in Nuclear Medicine. Her peer reviewed research has been published in Journals like Physics in Medicine and Biology, Magnetic Resonance Imaging and the Journal of Nuclear Cardiology. Her early work on Magnetic Resonance Imaging received over 350 citations and her recent work in Nuclear Medicine was featured in the editorial of the journal issue.
